While Fredericksburg has many fine restaurants, these are a few that we recommend and that we frequent. Many restaurants do not require reservations, but the top ones do.
Ottos – 830-307-3335 – Open For dinner (Tuesday -Sunday from 4-11 PM).
Some reservations and walk-ins. Small bistro – full bar, excellent dishes, including some German, with a modern twist. Fresh, local ingredients. Indoor and outdoor seating. On Austin St. across from the National Museum of the Pacific War.
Navajo Grill – 830-990-8289 (Mon.- Sun.).
Reservations recommended. Southwest/Cajun slant on very good food – steak, seafood, pasta – full bar with indoor and outdoor seating. 803 E. Main St. at Olive. Expensive.
August E’s – 830-997-1585 (Dinner – Tuesday through Sunday)
Reservations recommended on weekends. Continental and Sushi menu in modern setting. Full bar. Get the bar food – it’s reasonable. On San Antonio between Lincoln and Llano. Very expensive off dinner menu – great atmosphere. Thai Tuesdays!
Hill Top Cafe – 830-997-8922 (Wed. – Sun. from 11 Am till 9-10 PM)
Cajun/Greek specials – very famous restaurant located 11 miles north on Hwy. 87. Small, casual, music on weekends – beer and wine. Reservations strongly recommended.
Cabernet Grill (formerly Cotton Gin) – 990-5734 (Dinner – Tuesday through Saturday).
Large menu of well prepared food – all kinds. Full bar with many Hill Country wines featured. On Hwy. 16 South, just across from the Park and Fair Grounds.
Crossroads Saloon and Steakhouse – 830-992-3288 (Wed.-Sat.).
Very good steakhouse with great live entertainment and dancing on the weekends. Located on West end of Main St. Steak dinner specials on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Reservations on weekends.
Der Lindenbaum Closed Tuesdays – serve lunch and dinner.
No reservations taken. Authentic German food on north side of Main St., between Washington and Lincoln. Wine and beer – many German beers.
Friedhelms Bavarian Inn (Tues.-Sun.)
No reservations taken. Very good German and American food. Healthy portions, fairly laid back service. Large restaurant with great looking bar. On West Main at 290/87 split.
Pasta Bella – 830-990-9778 (Tues.-Sat.)
Italian food 1/2 bock south of Main on Llano. Beer and wine. Very good food – one of our favorite casual places.
Mamacitas – open every day.
Good Mexican food – great Margaritas. Inexpensive with great service. 506 E. Main. We eat here every week.
Hondo’s – 830-997-1633 (Wed – Sun)
Casual setting for great burgers, sandwiches, and live entertainment on weekends. Full bar – no reservations. Fun place! West end of Main on North side between Orange and Milam Streets.
Buffalo Nickel – 830-997-3700 (Thurs. – Sun., closing at 4 PM on Sunday.)
Burgers, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken sandwiches – full bar. On Llano 1/2 block south of Main.
Silver Creek – Every day for lunch and dinner.
Indoor and outdoor seating with music frequently in the evenings outside. All kinds of food. On the north side of Main St. between Lincoln and Llano.
Vaudeville – Downstairs Bistro open Wednesday through Monday for lunch, and dinner on weekends. Monday night dinners with prix fix menu by reservation. Friday and Saturday nights Bistro is open with limited menu, and reservations available in the courtyard for fine dining. On north side of Main St. between Lincoln and Llano. Excellent food – lovely setting.
Burger Burger – As it says, burgers, fries, and the like. Order at the bar and they bring it to you – very good! Indoor and outdoor seating on the south side of Main between Lincoln and Llano. They close at 4 PM on Sunday and are closed on Wednesday.
Woerner Warehouse – on South Lincoln St. between San Antonio and Creek. Great lunches – soups, salads, sandwiches. Dinner on Friday and Saturday – hand tossed pizzas and hoagies, beer and wine. Closed Sundays.
