Fredericksburg Food and Wine Fest

October 5th, 2010 by Lynn MacWithey

This is probably my favorite festival.  One day, October 23rd from 12-7 PM.  Many Texas wineries represented.  The weather is great, and the music is a combination of  Hill Country, a little folk, and old rock and roll.  Texas food purveyors set out tastes of their products and everyone has a great time!  New wineries keep cropping up all the time, so come taste what Fredericksburg has to offer.  Have yourself a big breakfast, and then head over to Marketplatz for the afternoon!

Fredericksburg Trade Days

August 19th, 2010 by Lynn MacWithey

On the third weekend of every month  (that’s this weekend!) Fredericksburg has Trade Days.  Over 300 vendors –  in 6 barns and over several acres  – sell antiques, shabby chic items, clothing, jewelry, collectibles and more.  Located just six miles east of Fredericksburg and right across from Wildseed Farms, here’s a place to explore what the Texas Hill Country has to offer.  Grab a beer and stroll the grounds.  You never know what you’ll find.

Holiday Season Events and Decorations

September 24th, 2009 by Lynn MacWithey

Keep the dates of December 4 and 5 in mind for the new St. Nikolaus market followed by the grand opening of the new edition of the National Pacific War Museum on December 7th. For your shopping pleasure, this market will feature artists and Christmas crafts from local merchants as well as invited artists from all over Texas.  This season will unveil a nearly 3 story German Pyramid being commissioned now in Germany to be on display on our Marketplatz all during the holiday season.    Right after that weekend will be the grand opening of the new George H. W. Bush Gallery – an expansion of the National Museum of the Pacific War.  This should be a spectacular event still in the planning stages, but it’s not too early to book a room at our Fredericksburg bed and breakfast.  It is sure to be memorable, with George H.W. Bush as the guest of honor.  Don’t miss the lights in Johnson City as the Pedernales Electric Cooperative lights up their properties with millions of Christmas lights – it’s truly glorious to see and lights up the sky for miles!  And remember, all these sights may be seen on weekdays as well, and with smaller crowds.
